IMOK -- Mobile Parenting Gets A Boost from Gamification

When Matt Bromberg's son asked for his first phone, like many kids he promised he would use it to keep in touch with his parents.  And then Matt got inspired to create I'mOK a very clever platform for parents to empower their kids to explore the world outside their home -- and still keep tabs on what they are up to.

How does I'mOK provide parents with the info on what their kids are doing?  A points system that rewards kids for their check-ins and the amount of information they reveal.  I'm a big believer in the potential for Game Mechanics platforms to achieve business objectives, so I look forward to hearing how the system works.

I'mOK will launch on iPhone, followed by a Web version and an Android app as soon as possible.

Thanks to Matt for sharing the story that inspired I'mOK, and the development process. The app launches in the iTunes store on Wednesday, October 19.

Best of luck to the team at I'mOK.

  1. "Where are you?" "What are you doing?" and "Who are you with?" are the three questions I ask my teens every time I need to track them down. This is a great idea!
